Samsung has officially confirmed the launch date for its Galaxy S26 flagship series, setting the stage for the year's first major mobile hardware reveal. Simultaneously, Meta’s social platform Threads is rolling out a unique feature that allows users to directly manipulate their content algorithms through text prompts.

Key Points

  • Samsung Unpacked is scheduled for February 25 at 1:00 p.m. ET, expected to feature the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra.
  • Threads has legitimized the "Dear Algo" trend, allowing users to explicitly tell the algorithm what they want to see via posts.
  • Ferrari unveiled the "Luche" EV, featuring an interior designed by Jony Ive’s LoveFrom agency, recently acquired by OpenAI.

Samsung Sets Stage for Galaxy S26 Launch

Samsung’s first "Unpacked" event of the year is officially slated for February 25 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. The event, which will be live-streamed via YouTube and Samsung’s official channels, is expected to headline the launch of the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra.

While major hardware redesigns are not anticipated across the board, the internal specifications mark a significant leap forward. Reports indicate the lineup will be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, accompanied by increased RAM and storage configurations.

The premium Galaxy S26 Ultra is positioned to receive the most substantial hardware changes. Updates are expected to focus on a major camera system overhaul and the inclusion of Qi2 wireless charging support. Additionally, persistent rumors surround a potential "Galaxy S26 Edge," a thinner device featuring a redesigned camera module that may replace the Plus model, though market analysts remain divided on this development.

Meta Turns User Feedback into a Feature

In a move to address long-standing user complaints regarding content recommendations, Threads is implementing a feature that turns user grievances into actionable data. Since the platform's launch in 2023, users have colloquially addressed the algorithm to complain about irrelevant content.

Meta is now formally recognizing this behavior. Users in the US, UK, New Zealand, and Australia can now create posts beginning with "Dear Algo" to adjust their preferences in real-time. This semantic signal allows the system to prioritize or suppress specific topics immediately.

"The company is turning lemons into algorithmic lemonade... You could write, 'Dear Algo, show me more posts about sous vide recipes,' or 'Dear Algo, stop showing me posts about air fryers.'"

Furthermore, the update includes a social component: users can repost another user's "Dear Algo" statement to have those same preferences reflected in their own feeds.

Jony Ive’s Design Return with Ferrari

In the automotive sector, Ferrari has broken cover on its new electric vehicle, the Ferrari Luche (Italian for "Light"). The vehicle formerly known as the "Electrica" bears significant importance due to its interior design, which was crafted by LoveFrom, the design agency founded by Sir Jony Ive.

Following his departure from Apple in 2019, Ive’s agency took on the Ferrari project before LoveFrom was acquired by OpenAI for a reported $6.5 billion. The Luche’s interior reflects Ive’s signature aesthetic, utilizing extensive glass elements, playful buttons, and "squirles" (square-circles). The design notably features a tilting screen mechanism reminiscent of legacy Apple hardware designs.

Market watchers and tech enthusiasts should look toward the end of the month for definitive specs on the Galaxy S26 lineup, while further details on Ferrari’s EV rollout are expected in the coming quarter.
